This week’s Blacknight Podcast is all about WordCamp Dublin which is on this weekend in DCU Business School. Blacknight is a sponsor, so we invited three of the organisers to join us on the show.

Our guests are Colm Troy, Rodolfo Melogli, and Mark Smallman. Mark organised WordCamp Belfast last year, and has kindly lent his expertise to help the Dublin team organise the first WordCamp south of the border since 2010.

“WordPress is the world’s leading open-source content management system”, says Colm, and Wordcamps are really an opportunity to bring together the local WordPress community in cities all over the world”

Although more than 700 WordCamps take place worldwide every year – the Dublin event is the only Wordcamp in Europe this weekend.

Over 250 people will attend the event, to hear 26 speakers, over two days in two parallel tracks: one technical and one business.

In particular, the business track covers more than just WordPress itself, but also includes talks on things that are related to the world of WordPress, like business growth, entrepreneurship,  and SEO.

“Essentially there are a lot of people in Ireland who would have businesses that are powered by WordPress, but they wouldn’t necessarily be WordPress experts – there’s a lot at the conference for those people as well”.

Naturally, Blacknight is a sponsor. For us, blogging means business, and we’ve been fans of WordPress from its earliest days. We blog to stay in touch with our customers, to lead and to listen. We recommend WordPress to our customers and we’re proud to support WordCamp Dublin 2017.

We’ll have staff on hand at the event to answer your questions about WordPress hosting, free domains, or anything else we can help you with. And if you look around you’ll see some more of our staff among the attendees: we’re WordPress users just like our customers.

WordCamp Dublin is almost sold out – but a handful of tickets are still available. Get them here!
