Today (30th April 2019) is the final day that you can switch your IOL.ie email over to ourselves.
If you don’t make the switch today your old IOL.ie email account will be shutdown and you will NOT be able to move it to us.
As we previously announced, we are working with BT Ireland to give users of legacy free email services IOL.ie, OceanFree.net, iolfree.ie and esatclear.net the option to keep their email addresses and move to more modern services.
BT has sent all users of IOL.ie email (and the other services) multiple emails about the switchover and if you haven’t opted in today is the final day to do so. If you want to opt-in you will need to contact BT today: support@btireland.ie
We’ve covered some of the more frequently asked questions here, as well as providing some articles about how to setup your email after making the move here.
NB: Please DO NOT post your email address in the comments on this blog post. If you are having issues with your IOL / Esat email address please contact our helpdesk with details

Hello guys this is the first I have heard of this. I had old iol email accounts and only found out when I couldn’t send and receive. I have emailed BT Support a week a go and got no reply.
Any help or advice would be appropriated. These accounts were set up around 2000

I also heard too late about this. I use the Outlook package and receive e-mails form 2 providers, including an iol one. Not sure when/if the iol e-mails stopped arriving…as the emauils just show my name on receipt.
Spoke to both BT and Blacknight and no luck with either of them. Transition period was over and that’s that!
Anyway, looks as if Blacknight will be charging people for the service after a year…..
I’ve found another provider….
That should read appreciated 🙂
