Changes to webmail

Altmail Blacknight

You may have gone to the Blacknight homepage today and clicked the Webmail link at the top of the page and see that it’s taking you to a slightly different subdomain. Normally it takes you to webmail.blacknight.com and now it’s taking you to altmail.blacknight.com. This was intentional as we’re trying to get more people using the altmail as webmail has a number of problems across different browsers that don’t affect altmail.blacknight.com

As a result you may be finding you can’t remember your password and it won’t be auto filled by your browser. Never fear you can still access the original link to webmail.blacknight.com we are recommending however that you start to use altmail.blacknight.com going forward.

Altmail of course runs over a secure https connection meaning that all data is transferred in an encrypted format.

First and last rule in business is that the customers come first.
You want to make changes or improvements, fine, just let us know.
It’s unacceptable to change the system and wait for the customers to find out for example that their address book has not been migrated.
Second point is that your support know nothing about the change or how to copy the address book over, and seem to think that as the webmail is ‘free’ its up to the customer to go figure.

      Oliver

The previous webmail is still there and fully working. We made the newer interface available several months ago and quite a number of people have been using it. However, since the older version of AtMail causes issues with some browsers we are now promoting the usage of the new interface.
If you want to use the old one you can – it’s still there.

    Hi Michele,

When I click on the webmail link on your homepage I get the following warning:
    (Intel mac, chrome 18.0.1025.142)

The site’s security certificate is not trusted!
You attempted to reach altmail.blacknight.com, but the server presented a certificate issued by an entity that is not trusted by your computer’s operating system. This may mean that the server has generated its own security credentials, which Google Chrome cannot rely on for identity information, or an attacker may be trying to intercept your communications.
You should not proceed, especially if you have never seen this warning before for this site.

I like the email service. I’m not tech minded I’m glad my assistant is though (wicked grin). I would ask one thing when trying to sync with android push apps domain address and and other information is asked for is there anyway that the help section could give this kind of information in a very simple format maybe on one page so numbnuts like me can find the information and easily use it, thanks.

Any plans of updating the webmail for domains ie: webmail.wibble.ie as this still downloads the parse.php file when you attempt to log in in chrome. I only use IE to check my webmail, which is annoying.

      @Paudie
Please use https://altmail.blacknight.com and you won’t have any issues.

I’ll ask our technical team if there’s any way to point webmail.domain.tld to the same location

      Thanks for your comment

      Michele
