We’ve got a few things to update you on coming up to Christmas.
Our Christmas Opening Hours
We will close at 6pm as usual on Friday the 23rd of December, but on Christmas Eve (24th of December) we will be open from 11am to 3pm. We will be closed all day on Christmas Day (25th of December) and St. Stephen’s Day (26th of December). We will re-open on the 27th of December, but with limited hours that will vary each day. Our normal working hours will resume on the 3rd of January. See Blacknight.Christmas for full details.
Registering a .IE Domain Over Christmas
If you try to register a .IE domain from Christmas Eve onwards, expect delays. Since all .IE domain registrations need to be verified; this can only happen when the .IE registry (formally called the ‘IEDR’) are open. They close as usual at 5pm on Friday the 23rd of December. They will be fully closed on the 26th and 27th, then open from 9am to 5pm on the 28th, 29th and 30th of December. On Monday the 2nd of January 2023 they will be closed again, before being back to normal hours on the 3rd of January.
Annual Network Freeze
There will be a Network Operations Freeze starting 16th of December at 5pm until the 3rd of January at 8am. During this time, only emergency maintenance will be permitted on the Blacknight network. No services requiring the installation or configuration of circuits, VLANs, network equipment etc., will be undertaken during this period and no works that involve any Blacknight services should be scheduled to take place.
For emergency outages we will have engineers on call throughout the Christmas period. For broadband services, our partners will also be engaged in a freeze period during this time, therefore, we cannot guarantee any delivery of new services until the new year. More information can be found here.

Lastly, we want to say a huge thank you to all of our customers, resellers, suppliers, registries, and anyone that stayed with us throughout the rollercoaster that was 2022. We have recently made many changes to our services to improve your user experience, and through all the ups and downs, we can’t thank you all enough for your support during the year.
