From January 2026, Gmail will no longer fetch emails from other accounts using something called POP. If you use Gmail to collect your Blacknight (or Titan) emails, this may affect you — but don’t worry, your emails aren’t going anywhere.
What’s changing?
Right now, some people have Gmail set up so it “goes and gets” emails from their Blacknight account. This feature is called POP.
- After January 2026, Gmail will stop collecting new emails this way.
- Any old emails that are already in Gmail will stay right where they are.
- This change is being made by Google, not Blacknight.
Am I affected?
Not sure? Here’s how you can check in Gmail:
- Open Gmail and click the little gear icon for Settings
- Choose ‘See all settings’
- Go to the tab called ‘Accounts and Import’
- Look for a section that says, ‘Check mail from other accounts’
If you see your Blacknight/Titan email address listed there, you are using POP, and this change will affect you.
What should I do?
Here are your options going forward:
Option 1: Use Webmail
The easiest way is to log in directly at app.titan.email. You’ll always see all your emails there.
Option 2: Use an Email App (with IMAP)
Instead of Gmail doing the fetching, you can use an email app on your phone, tablet, or computer. Popular ones include:
- Outlook
- Apple Mail
- Thunderbird
- Titan Email App (Phone Only)
These apps use a newer system called IMAP, which keeps everything in sync across your devices. So, if you read a message on your phone, it’ll also show as read on your laptop.
Follow this guide on how to configure your email account in these clients.
What about my old emails?
- Good news: Emails already inside Gmail will stay there.
- Important note: If your Gmail POP settings didn’t “leave a copy on the server,” then some older messages might only exist inside Gmail, not on Blacknight’s mail server.
In simple terms: what do I need to know?
- Gmail is retiring POP in January 2026.
- If you’ve been using Gmail to collect your Blacknight email, that will stop working.
- Your old emails inside Gmail will stay safe.
- To keep receiving new messages, switch to Webmail or an email app with IMAP.
Quick FAQ
What is POP?
POP is the old way Gmail used to “collect” your emails. Like a postman picking up letters, it takes messages off the server and puts them in Gmail.
What is IMAP?
IMAP is the modern way. Think of it like a window into your mailbox — everything stays on the server, and all your devices see the same thing.
Which should I use?
IMAP. It’s modern, reliable, and won’t be going away anytime soon.
Don’t wait until January 2026. Try logging into Titan Webmail or setting up an email app now, so you’re comfortable before Gmail makes this change.
