IGF Berlin is go!

I’ll be heading off to Berlin this weekend to attend the Internet Governance Forum (IGF).

If the IGF is held in Europe I will usually attend, as it’s generally a pretty interesting event. It brings together an interesting mix of business, government, academia and various civil society groups to discuss topics of interest related to the Internet eco-system. Last year, for example, French President Emmanuel Macron gave a very interesting, if quite worrying, address.

This year’s host is Germany and the event is being held in Berlin (thence the .berlin for the local host site I linked to above!).

Topics next week that have caught my eye include:

  • DNS threats
  • Internet Jurisdiction Project updates
  • Data protection and privacy
  • Hate speech
  • Illegal content
  • IPv6
  • Regulation of medicines online

The schedule for the event is pretty packed, so there’s usually 2 or 3 sessions on at any one time that I’d find interesting, so it’s usually a challenge to decide which ones appear to be the best.

A lot of the organisations we work with throughout the year will also have a presence there, with representatives from RIPE, ICANN, I2Coalition, ECO and many others in attendance.

It’ll be a rather busy week I suspect!
