APWG (Anti-Phishing Working Group) is a not-for-profit organisation consisting of counter-cybercrime responders, forensic investigators, law enforcement agencies, technology companies, and more. They are focused on eliminating the identity theft and frauds that result from the growing problem of online crime. In November, their eCrime event will bring people together to raise awareness about exactly that.

As part of their 20th anniversary (Congratulations!), the APWG is holding the eCrime event in Barcelona and will host a number of experienced speakers to discuss the complexity of the internet and cybercrime. Something that has been on everyone’s mind during the year is AI (Artificial Intelligence) and its effect on the internet. There have been a number of scams online that’s been created with AI, so Luis Corrons of Gen Digital will take you through ‘How Generative AI Mutates Phishing and Scam Threats – and What Can Be Done About It’.

They will also look at the future of the internet and different types of cybercrime. If you have a business with sensitive data or you’d just like to be aware of what’s going on with AI and how to keep others safe online, this is the event for you. If you’re anything like us and have majority of your services online, cybercrime and keeping data safe online is imperative. October is Cyber Security Awareness Month, so get your ticket before the month ends and you’re all set for eCrime 2023. It takes place from the 15th to the 18th of November in Barcelona. You probably remember the APWG’s Tech Summit that was held in Ireland in June. If you attended that, make sure to check out eCrime 2023, and if you’re a student, you can even avail of a discount.
