Verisign Implements Changes to com transfers

Verisign, which manages the registry of .com and .net, have recently moved their platform over to use EPP.
While this is primarily a “backend” change it also affects both ourselves and our clients.
As you may be aware to transfer a .org, .info or .biz domain you need a special code or key. This is EPP in action.
For all .com and .net transfers from last weekend onwards you will need to provide the EPP key to initiate transfer.
Putting it more bluntly. No Key = no transfer.
Under ICANN rules registrars must supply the EPP information within 5 days of receiving a request for it. Most of the larger registrars will make the information readily available to clients from within their control panels or via their support desks.
If you have any queries about EPP please let us know
(If you are interested in learning more about the finer details of EPP, then you may wish to read RFC 3730)
