Just after 9:00 this morning we drew a name at random from the hundreds of entries we received for our email newsletter giveaway. The prize is a Panasonic Lumix DC–TZ90 digital camera, and we had an impressive volume of entries – thank you to everyone who took part.
Out of the draw came Andrew Davidson from Sligo. I sent him an email with our congratulations, and to ask for his address so we could pop the prize in the post.
Andrew is the co-founder, with Niall McAllister, of Quickcrop, a company that is “all about making vegetable growing easy and accessible whether you live in the countryside or the city, whether you want to grow a pot of salad leaves or want to feed your whole family”.
As a homegrown Irish SME (literally!), Quickcrop is a great example of the kind of business we take a special pride in helping to get online. Coincidentally, we were in Sligo ourselves this week, working with the IE Domain Registry and local organisations, sharing our advice and experience about digital tools for saving time and money. As one of the participants remarked to me: digital tools and online business are all about levelling the playing field, so that you can work effectively and trade internationally, no matter where you live.
That’s the philosophy driving the success of GrowRemote as well, an organisation we support whose members are making plans to celebrate its first anniversary in Kinvara on 1 November. We’ll have more about that in a future update.
Meanwhile, Andrew’s camera is on its way to Sligo.
“We take a lot of imagery for our site so this camera will be a brilliant addition and will be well used, it couldn’t be a better prize for us”, said Andrew.
Congratulations Andrew and Niall, and keep up the good work at Quickcrop!
