Off To Serbia To Talk About New TLDs

Serbia-660

Serbia is a very vibrant and interesting country. Their domain registry is organising an event next Monday and I’m delighted and honoured to have been invited to speak on a panel.

It should be an interesting event and getting the perspective from Serbians should make it all the more interesting.

Here’s the release we put out earlier today:

Blacknight proudly announces the participation of CEO Michele Neylon in Day of Internet Domains of Serbia.

Serbian Internet Domain Names Day (DIDS) is an annual conference dedicated to the development of the Internet, organised by the Register of National Internet Domain Names of Serbia (RNIDS). This year’s event will take place on March 10, 2014 at the Hotel Metropole in Belgrade, Serbia. DIDS, which is in its 5th year is open to all, free of charge. The all-day DIDS programme is intended both for IT professionals and for all other Internet users (students, bloggers, entrepreneurs, journalists, etc.) who are interested in learning more about current Internet topics.

The DIDS programme is divided into three sections and includes presentations, lectures and panel discussions, featuring speakers from all over the world. Blacknight’s Michele Neylon will speak during the first section, which is titled Domainisation. Neylon’s panel focuses on the Impact of the introduction of new generic Top Level Domains (gTLDs) and is intended to inform conference goers on the latest new gTLD news, as well as discuss some of the murkier aspects such opportunities, risks, impact on ccTLDs, impact on market, and consumer’s choice.

“I am honoured to be a part of DIDS,” Neylon states. “There is such a rich and interesting Internet culture in Serbia and it’s surrounding countries. I look forward to discussing new TLDs at this event in particular because there is so much innovation in the region and I can’t wait to see how the Serbian Internet community will unlock their potential.” Neylon will be joined by Joined by Urlich Retzlaff of PIR and Slobodan Marković from RNIDS.

While the first section this year, titled Domainisation (http://dids.rs), will look at the changes brought by the worldwide introduction of new gTLDs, the second section, Socialisation , is dedicated to the promotion of the Internet via social networks. The third and final section of the one-day event is Good Location , and will look at examples of successful sites using the national .RS and .СРБ domains.

In addition to IT professionals, Internet providers and accredited registrars, the full-day DIDS event also gathers other Internet users, providing them with the opportunity to learn more about the topics current in the Internet space of Serbia and the world.
