Blacknight Goes Down Under

ICANN Sydney 2009 LogoNext month sees the 35th public ICANN meeting being held in Sydney, Australia.

I’ve been going to the public meetings as often as I can over the last couple of years and find them to be a fantastic opportunity to get involved with global policy development.

All the ICANN meetings are 100% free thanks to the sponsors, so I am delighted to announce that we are doing our bit for the Sydney meeting and are a bronze sponsor!

I’ll be at the ICANN meeting for the week, so if anyone wants to meetup please let me know

    Michele’
Interesting that you are coming to Australia. I am in Canberra so there is no point in trying to meet you, and I might be wasting your time.
I have been contemplating making an approach to all our Catholic schools to suggest that they have a domain hosted by Blacknight and a sub-domain for each member of staff. It might facilitate interaction between the school and staff and amongst staff as a group. We are quite unique with our catholic school system. There might be thousands in Australia (I’ve never tried to put a figure on it.) Other Churches have some also. In the 19thC, the churches started schools in Australia and the governments, State and Federal, are trying to take over, without complete success. Nearly 30% of Australian children are still educated in non government schools. BEWARE! it is a very emotional topic. Teachers unions resent the church schools and don’t want to know the extent of their contribution, saving governments millions of $’s.
There is nothing in this for me. I am a retired teacher, and I just think it is a good idea for the schools to look at what Blacknight offers. My son-in-law is a network manager in a group of Catholic Secondary Colleges and has worked with two separate dioscesan Catholic Education commissions.
If I can be of any assistance, you can contact me at xxxxx@xxxxxx or you can phone on xxxxxx. Enjoy Sydney! It’s a great place but very overcrowded. (Kings Cross is popular amongst tourists. I think it is Sydney’s own private disease.)
