May Bank Holiday Opening Hours 2018

It’s May the Fourth today – so we shout out to Star Wars fans! This year, it coincides with the May Bank Holiday Weekend in Ireland.

Monday 7 May is a public holiday in Ireland. Support will be available by email and live chat from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm on Monday. Telephone service will be provided for support, accounts and sales from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm.

The usual on-call support will be available to colocation and dedicated server customers.

Online domain sales will be unaffected, with the exception of IE domains which require manual confirmation by the IE Domain Registry (IEDR). IEDR will be closed on Monday 7 May. As a result, .IE domain name registrations, registrant changes, or other administrative changes will not be possible until Tuesday 8 May. Nameserver updates will be possible during this period.

Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday 8 May.

Predictably enough, the past week has seen another outbreak online of the summer/not-summer argument between adherents to the traditional Gaelic Irish Calendar, and those who believe that summer doesn’t start until June, July or never. (See also: soccer-vs-football).

The reality, as every true Irish person knows, is that you should take your summer whenever you can get it. And the signs for this weekend are encouraging! Met Eireann forecasts temperatures up to 21 degrees celsius over the next four days!

Dublin Airport reports that it expects to accommodate more than 367,000 passengers from Friday, May 4 to Monday May 7, 2018. Passenger numbers are 8% up over the same weekend last year.

Meanwhile, mytaxi have published a list of Bank Holiday travel tips for those who are hailing a cab this weekend. Best tip? If you’re hailing on the street, you can still use mytaxi to pay with the card registered on your account.
