So, in plain text this is not for you unless you have in or arround 500.000 dollars to support the cost of the aplication + IT support + Legal Support + other small but spencive stuff.
I hope somebody with the money apply for a .IRL (dot IRL) and give it to people for a fraction of the price of a .IE (dot IE) and with a more efficient and simple aplication process.
A three leters Tld will be an atractive thing to a lot of people, think in countries like Brasil or Argentina ( .com.br and .com.ar ) For these countries a .BRA and .ARG will be really good, also you can divide the .co.uk and give each one their name like .GBR .ENG .SCO (all countries have a three letters code that can give some ideas to people with the cash to make more cash with a new Tld).
For the rest…. well a lot of noise about other words that can be registered, but the reallity shows that the aplication is nothing but expensive and directed to big business and corporations with the interest to protect their own brand or to make cash from a Tld that they can control.
I think the ICANN need to take a look to internet business, web developers, IT people, and internet users in general, and provide other stuff that can make of the internet a better “thing”.
I can’t see (but i will like to see) a company spending all that cash on a Tld like .CHARITY or .AID and give it for free to registered charities and aid’s organizations, perhaps is something that ICANN should have done before instead of thinking how to make some cash.
I don’t know…. i get a bit cranky when people make a lot of noise about something that is not worth.
    Sorry for my english

There will probably be a .irish TLD at some time in the not too distant future. I don’t think a .irl would be possible due to a number of issues (possible confusion, ISO lists etc)
