Domain of the Week #4: .ME- Top 5 Reasons to Register .ME

Make your mark with a .ME

This unique domain is a great personal online signature. It allows you to create a website or email that’s all about you!

Top 5 reasons to register .ME:
1. It can be registered anywhere and is understood in multiple languages
2. It’s used by big global businesses like PayPal
3. It’s super short and memorable
4. You can pair it with a call-to-action (such as join.ME and explain.ME)
5. It creates your online identity and aids branding

.ME is the ccTLD for Montenegro (in the same way as .IE is for Ireland and .CO.UK is for the UK). However, it’s been made available for everyone to use regardless of location, so you don’t have to be based in Montenegro to take advantage of it, and you can use it for all sorts of websites from all around the world. .ME is all about you and what you do, so share your CV, portfolio, or just tell the world about your thoughts in a blog with this simple domain. You could also use it if your business name can be shortened to the acronym ‘M.E.’ – this makes it easier for people to find your business online as it makes their search easier, like typing arrangecall.me into Google to be immediately met with a contact form.

Have a look at get.itoff.me, line.me, and shanemcdonald.me for inspiration, and to see how these businesses used their .ME domain to their advantage.

Great comprehensive list. Personally for me I’d recommend to anyone stick with the .com as much as possible as it is considered the most professional and try to keep it short and snappy so people remember it but if it’s unavailable then definitely go with the .me.

Another bit of advice I’ve learnt over the years to get a great domain name is consider looking at domain expiring websites that you can search and from there you can find the domain you want and then you can use a drop catching service to grab that domain. This would A. give you the domain you want and B. there is a good chance that domain is aged and Google is happy with it and C. a much higher chance of it being a premium domain without the additional cost.
