Online sales keep on growing, mobile usage is up, but many Irish businesses still don’t have an effective online presence, or any online presence at all.

This year Irish consumers will spend over €100 million in online purchases between Black Friday and Cyber Monday and 86% of Irish consumers want to buy online this Christmas. Unfortunately there is still a high proportion of Irish businesses that do not have any online presence, while others are not focussing on their online presence.

This is according to the latest figures released by the IEDR in their biannual report of Ireland’s “digital health” which is illustrated in the graphic below:

Small businesses are the heart and soul of the Irish economy and the better their online presence the better they’ll be able to take advantage of the digital economy.

According to the IEDR’s research the perceived cost and complexity are barriers for small business. We think they shouldn’t be, as they don’t really exist.
