Already Got a .ie Domain? Registering Another One is Now Super Easy!

It’s now WAY easier to register .ie domain names. You no longer have to produce complicated documents or compose letters explaining “why” you want to register a particular domain name. All you need is to provide proof of your connection to Ireland. Simple.

And if you already have a .ie domain name (or more than one!) it’s even easier.

The updated policies mean that if you’ve already got a .ie domain name you’re considered “validated” and you don’t need to go through that process ever again.

On our side we’ve made this as easy as possible – when you’re placing your order for a .ie domain name simply associate the new domain registration with an existing contact for one of your .ie domain names and our systems will handle all the rest.

If you’ve never registered a .ie domain name you’ll need to provide the proof of address or identity, but we’ve streamlined that as well.

Do you think this is a good idea? Ireland has managed to avoid the problems of spam domains thanks to the Ddraconian procedures that were in place until recently. Sure it was a hassle but Irish people have a greater level of trust for the dot ie because of it.

We think it’s a good idea as we’ve outlined multiple times in the past. The level of trust in a namespace is due to a lot of factors. Co.uk and many others have had much more liberal registration policies for years and haven’t had any issues with trust.
