Off to Bangkok for Domains & DNS

Next week ICANN is organising a number of events that are focussed on the more operational side of domains and DNS.

For the last few years ICANN’s Global Domains Division (GDD) has organised an annual conference that was aimed at registrars, registries and related organisations, but with a much stronger focus on our day to day business. So instead of talking about quite abstract policy matters the attendees will be discussing how we all conduct our business.

Topics under discussion next week will include:

  • GDPR (yay!)
  • RDAP, which is a the replacement for Whois
  • Evolving domain transfers – essentially looking at how that entire process could be improved
  • Making ICANN Policy Development Work for Business – I’ll be speaking on the panel of this one
  • Registry lock
  • DNS Abuse
  • Registrant User Experience – I’ll be involved with this session which should be interesting

If you’re interested in following the discussions remote participation will be available, though with timezone differences it could be quite painful to keep up with us!

Full details on the events in Bangkok next week are available here.
