Irish Web Awards 2010 Nominations Announced

The 2010 Irish Web Awards, which are sponsored by Realex Payments, will be held later this year in Dublin’s Mansion House.

The awards event, which is free to enter, is organised by Damien Mulley of Mulley Communications and was a wonderful evening last year.

Unlike a lot of awards the Irish Web Awards are all about those things that so many people tend to forget about. Words that spring to mind are “passion”, “emotion”, “life” and so many many more that you probably won’t find as easily when you move into the drier corporate world. (There’s nothing wrong with the corporate world, but you have to admit, it’s not as much “fun”)

The Irish Web Awards ceremony last year was a wonderful evening where a couple of hundred people got together because they simply love what they do and it shows. They “let their hair down” and celebrated the achievements of the Irish Web.

This year’s big list of nominated websites is a fantastic reflection on the wealth of talented people that produce websites (and services) that use the “web”. And unlike so many other awards there is no barrier to entry, so you will find websites produced by big corporates rubbing virtual shoulders with those produced by enthusiasts.

With over 700 websites nominated the judges are going to have their hands full working their way through all the entries!

And the nominations aren’t finished yet! There’s still time to nominate sites in the following categories:

  • Best Technology Site
  • Best New Web Application/Service
  • Best Social Media Campaign
  • Best (Guerilla) Social Media Campaign – Sponsored by ebow
  • Best Microsite – Sponsored by ArgusCarHire.com
  • An Suíomh Gaeilge is Fear
  • Best Practice

(Expect nominations to open for these categories within the next 24 hours)

Quite a few of our clients have been nominated, so on behalf of everyone here at Blacknight – best of luck!

Let the games begin!
