Tomorrow marks the winter solstice, and while it’s business-as-usual here at Blacknight for the rest of the week, there’s already a holiday feeling in the air.
We’ve posted our office hours for the holiday period at Blacknight.Christmas. Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th are public holidays in Ireland and the office will be closed. Office hours will be 9 – 5 for the remainder of that week, and there will also be a limited sales and support hours on Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st December.
New Year’s Day, Monday January 1st, is also a public holiday and the office will be closed. Normal office hours will resume on Tuesday January 2nd.
Customers who wish to register .IE domain names should take note that the office of the IE Domain Registry (IEDR) will close at 6:30 pm on Friday 22 December, and will remain closed until 8:00 am on Tuesday 2 January 2018. Because IEDR insists on manual approval of all domain names, this means that it will not be possible to complete .IE registrations until they return to work. This is their company policy and it is beyond our control at Blacknight.

In 2017 we launched our new online store. We’ll be following up with a re-launch of our broader website in Q1 of 2018.
From 1 January, our CEO Michele Neylon will take up a new role as Chair of the Internet Infrastructure Coalition (or i2Coalition), an international advocacy group representing companies like ourselves who provide the infrastructure of the internet. There are interesting times ahead for the industry, in particular with the advent of GDPR and with the recent news on Net Neutrality in the US.
Guímid beannachtaí na Nollag oraibh, agus gach rath sa bhliain atá romhainn.
