New ComReg Quarterly Report Shows Record Growth in Broadband Connections in Ireland

ComReg, the Irish communications regulator, has issued its latest Q1 (Jan-Mar) quarterly report, and it shows that broadband connections in Ireland continue to show record growth.

According to the report, “Fixed broadband subscriber lines increased to 1.59 million, a 0.8% increase this quarter and an increase of 3.6% compared to Q1 2021. Of these, nearly 402k were fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) subscriber lines representing 25.3% of total fixed broadband subscriber lines in Q1 2022, up from 18.3% in Q1 2021.”

The rest of the data is fascinating too:

Irish consumers love broadband, and this data shows that if they have options available – they will pursue it, and fibre connections are growing. With the roll-out of NBI fibre broadband in rural Ireland, we expect these numbers to keep increasing as time goes on.

We said it before, and we’ll say it again, the future of Ireland is online, and it’s great to see our fixed fibre and mobile data networks maturing and continuing to grow with consumers. There’s still more opportunity out there.
