Dot Irish LLC, which is the company that applied to run the .irish domain name registry, signed their contract with ICANN yesterday.
Who is .irish for?
Well unless the domain name extension itself wasn’t clear (and we kind of think it is!) .irish is aimed at the global Irish community. While the population of Ireland might not be that big, the global Irish community is huge. How many 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Irish are there out there? Millions?
With .irish anyone or any business that has an affinity with being Irish will be able to register their own .irish domain name.
We’re really excited about this upcoming domain launch and we hope you all are too.
When will .irish domain names be available?
We don’t have confirmed dates yet, but we expect them to start becoming available early in 2015.
How can I get my .irish domain name?
We’ll be making more announcements about how businesses and individuals can register their .irish domain names over the coming months. Please watch this space!
In the meantime there are plenty of other cool domain names available for you to choose from!
