Blacknight Flexi Broadband is Here!

Introducing our brand new innovative service –  flexible broadband! This allows you to easily turn on and off your broadband as you need it. Our flexible broadband will help our customers with seasonal residences and all kinds of businesses save money. We are delighted to be the first Irish company to bring this service to the Irish market.

Blacknight Flexi Broadband is the perfect option for when you need fast broadband, but don’t need it all the time. Why pay for the entire year if you’re only there part of the time? The broadband, offered through the NBI network, is super fast fibre with connections with speeds of 500 Mbps (€54.99 a month), or 1 Gbps (€69.99). We can offer this service to anywhere in Ireland serviced by NBI.

“Flexible broadband is a fantastic addition to our current broadband offerings. Broadband providers want to lock you in to a contract long-term,” said Michele Neylon, CEO of Blacknight. “Flexi broadband allows you to only pay for broadband when you are using it. It makes it easier for customers to connect and disconnect without paying a penalty. If you are a holiday homeowner, or someone who manages a seasonal business, this service is our answer to give you the flexibility you need, while also saving money.”

After paying the once off installation fee, and when the broadband service is active for 30 days, customers will have the option to pause the service. The customer can simply login and turn off the service from their control panel (they don’t even need to call). Then when they’re ready to activate the service again, they simply switch it back on in their control panel, and it will be ready and waiting for them when they arrive at their property or location. You can reactivate for a minimum of thirty days, or several months. This new service offers the flexibility you need to have broadband only when you need it.

“We worked very closely with our industry partners to come up with this solution. Just because you’re not there all the time, doesn’t mean you can’t have world class broadband when you are,” said Blacknight CTO Paul Kelly. “With the revolution in remote working in Ireland post-COVID, this is a great way for Ireland’s digital nomads to make sure they have reliable and fast internet access wherever they are.”

Not only is this service ideal for holiday homes, it’s also a great solution for a wide range of businesses that need broadband for only part of the year – for example, a shop or restaurant in a tourist town that’s only open in the summer months but needs broadband to operate. It’s a great option for hotels in holiday destinations that shut down in the winter months. Flexi broadband is also perfect for student accommodation when the students have gone home for the summer. Why pay for internet if you don’t have any customers to use it? With our new service, you don’t have to. The 30-day rolling contract means there’s no need to commit to a long-term broadband contract, or get penalised to get out of one.

Joe Lavin, Chief Commercial Officer of National Broadband Ireland, said: “National Broadband Ireland is delighted to see our partner Blacknight launch this new innovation which offers great flexibility to their customers. Those who have signed up to NBI’s high-speed fibre through Blacknight can now avail of a more cost-effective offering that allows you to only pay for the broadband when you need broadband. NBI’s mission is make sure that no one is left behind when it comes to access to super fast broadband no matter how remote the location and Blacknight is ensuring they meet the needs of all the different kinds of customers as well as helping with cost-of-living pressures.”
