Oscar is here and he’s by no means a grouch! Sesame Street references aside WordPress 3.6 was released last night, code name Oscar.

How do I know this? Apart from seeing all about it on various social media channels because I’m using a rather nice little plugin that tells me when there are updates available for WordPress and the plugins I’m running on it. I get a nice email telling me about the available updates. Today it’s warning me about the update to the core as well as an update to another plugin we’re using.

You can see details on the plugin on a previous blog post – https://blacknight.blog/patch-up-wordpress-please.html

So, what’s new in WordPress 3.6 you ask?

Key points would be a new default theme called Twenty Thirteen http://wordpress.org/themes/twentythirteen with lots of support for custom post types / formats.
